Description

The Sentiero del Viandante (Wanderer’s Trail) is an old mule track dating back to Roman times. It runs along the eastern shore of Lake Como and going through small clusters of houses, old mills, castles, churches and chapels it maintains at an average height, among woods and terraces cultivated with vineyards and olive trees.

The ancient trail, once connecting the numerous villages on the eastern shore of the lake from Abbadia Lariana to Colico, is popular in all seasons among hiking lovers.

It can be walked in stages, following the orange signposts, in a beautiful landscape alternating views of the lake and the mountains and offering surprises at the remains of ancient human presence: a small village, a little church, a washhouse or an ancient hamlet.

Between one stage and the next, it’s possible to go down to this or that village, for a cultural and gastronomic experience.

Even mountain bike passionates can enjoy these paths, offering various opportunities of ascents and descents suitable to freeriders as well.

In the months of September and October, various Pro Loco on east Lario organize a program of trekking discovering the Sentiero del Viandante (Wanderer’s Trail) with the possibility to go back by train to the starting point.
